About this project
When designing this kitchen we came across some pictures of a 70’s kitchen during a design meeting that we had at the clients house. This immediately grabbed our attention and we used this inspiration to create a beautiful kitchen in this spacious family house located in the “Old South” of Amsterdam. By the seventies we don’t mean the typical seventies colors, but the way we constructed the floating kitchen cabinets in a dark steel frame and the way we combined different materials like wood, steel and marble.
The steel frame separates the kitchen from the living room and the glass walls ensure that the chef stays connected to what is happening in the living room, thus creating a cozy and intimate feel throughout the entire living area.
The kitchen is equipped with high end Gaggenau appliances, such as a wine climate cabinet, dish washer, combi steam oven and a built-in refrigerator with a freezer compartment. The kitchen island cabinetry are made from powder coated steel with a built-in Teppenyaki plate from Bora for Japanese-style dinners. The big island offers plenty of dine-in seating for the whole family.
The Arabescato workstation in combination with the deep dark prickly-oak kitchen walls and cabinets are truly a match made in heaven.
