About this project
White, bright and clean were the three drivers we were working with when designing this modern and open kitchen in the Vondelpark area of southern Amsterdam. In our design the idea was to create a kitchen that uses the natural light of the open living area and the sunlit balcony to its best advantage.
The island has been created out of Italian Arebescato marble. On top of the island we installed a BORA induction cooktop with an integrated extractor so there is no need for a separate hood which would ruin the aesthetic of the kitchen.
The eleven foot long kitchen counter is made entirely out of white Getacore with on its left well-concealed Neff appliances. On the inside, all cabinets and drawers are made from light birch wood. In the sink area we’ve installed a Quooker. Above the countertop we’ve hung thick marble shelves made from the same Arebescato marble used on the island. The vertical niche on the right side of the kitchen is made out of a one-piece elongated piece of dark blue steel, adding a powerful robust touch.
The kitchen has a refreshingly open and spatial feel to it. Due to the strength of natural sunlight coming from the large windows in the area, we could use the light colour palettes to our best advantage. Keeping in mind a light contrast with the wooden floor, the white of the marble and the cabinets create an environment where every cook would be proud to call this their workspace.
